Apply to be a 2025 Food Leaders Fellow

Applications are now open for the fourth cohort of Food & Society at the Aspen Institute’s Food Leaders Fellowship! The fellowship unites the most promising food system leaders to ignite personal transformation, cross-sector collaboration, and scalable change toward a fair, sustainable, and healthy food system. Applications are open until December 13, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT. Contact Nicole Corea with questions or accommodation requests.

The Fellowship Experience

This 18-month program begins at the Institute’s Aspen, Colorado, campus, where fellows critically examine their beliefs and personal missions using the Institute’s time-tested seminar method. Through subsequent in-person and virtual gatherings including site visits, guest-led discussions, and peer mentorship, fellows identify and hone their ability to make significant change throughout their careers. Fellows design and implement plans for this impact through an action plan that builds on the work they’re already doing and the reflection, knowledge, and support they gain through the program.

The required dates for this cohort’s in-person seminars are:

  • Aug. 10-15, 2025
  • Apr. 29-May 2, 2026
  • Feb. 3-6, 2027

Candidate Criteria

Candidates must be based in the United States, Mexico, or Canada. Fellows will be selected on their own merits and to assemble a cohort with varied backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. Specifically, the program seeks candidates who:

  • are changemakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators in the food system
  • focus on creating a fair, sustainable, and healthy food system
  • have demonstrated early success and are ready to think long-term about the impact they can have throughout their careers
  • want to collaborate across the food system and bring solutions to scale
  • value continued growth and learning from backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences that differ from their own
  • want to be part of a community that collaborates for decades to come
