After spending eight years as an educator, Sean co-founded Just Roots Chicago, an organization working to develop and expand access to local, sustainably grown food in disinvested communities. Over the last decade, Sean has led the development of community farms that are utilized to produce fresh, healthy foods, facilitate educational programs, and offer beautiful and welcoming community food spaces. At Just Roots’ farms, community members are invited to cultivate meaningful connections with their food, their neighbors, and the land. Sean comes from a family of farmers in Ireland and believes that growing food is a powerful force for building more sustainable, resilient, and caring communities.
