Deputy Director of Strategy & Operations, Pitkin County Human Services
Having been raised on an organic beef farm in Minnesota by a veterinarian and a physician, Sam Landercasper seemed destined to wind up in a service role with an eye toward food security. He is currently the Deputy Director of Strategy and Operations for Pitkin County Human Services in Aspen, CO. In this role, he provides strategic input into the operations of the Human Services Department both internally and in external relations with community partners and other government agencies. Sam holds an M.P.A. from Johns Hopkins and has worked in the human services field for more than ten years. He believes that food insecurity is a severe but solvable threat and is particularly focused on studying and addressing the issue at the level of rural resort regions that have been historically underserved and underrepresented in food security efforts.
