Executive Director, Los Angeles Food Policy Council
Alba Velasquez is Executive Director of the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, where she leads regional efforts to advance equitable, resilient, and sustainable food systems across Los Angeles County. Since joining LAFPC in 2017, she has helped expand the organization’s impact through strategic partnerships, policy advocacy, and community-centered programming, including the growth of the Healthy Neighborhood Market Network. Alba previously served as Interim Executive Director, guiding the organization through a leadership transition in 2020. Prior to LAFPC, she managed public health initiatives at the National Health Foundation and contributed to urban agriculture research at University of California, Los Angeles. A Salvadoran refugee and longtime community advocate, Alba brings both lived experience and policy expertise to her work advancing food justice and community health.
